CB500-3 SERIES SWITCHING BATTERY CHARGER

The CB516-3 and CB520-3 switching battery chargers are capable of charging lead-acid batteries (lead-acid, lead-gel and AGM) automatically and with innovative charging phases. The battery chargers are protected from overtemperature and the 12V outputs are protected from short circuit and reverse polarity. CB516-3 and CB520-3 are also intended to replace the CB516 and CB520 models.

Six cycle charging system for 12V batteries:

– Desulphation: when the battery charger is turned on, only if the battery requires it, it is charged at a voltage of 15.2V until the current exceeds 2A or in any case for a maximum of 2 hours.
– Bulk: charging the battery with the maximum current until the end of charge voltage is reached.
– NB: The end of charge is reached only if the battery is efficient.
– Absorption: completion of the battery charge with constant end-of-charge voltage for the time defined by the charging line with progressive reduction of the current.
– Float: maintenance charge at constant voltage for a maximum time of 15 hours. A high absorption from the battery leads to restarting from the Bulk phase.
– Stand-by: the battery charger no longer supplies energy and switches to the Refresh phase only when the battery voltage drops below 13V.
– Refresh: The battery is charged at the Bulk charging voltage for a maximum time of 1h; this phase is designed to compensate for self-discharge of the battery during any prolonged periods of inactivity.

Subsequently the charge restarts from the Float phase. The high frequency switching technology allows to obtain high efficiency with reduced weights and dimensions.
